Browserupdate_XH – a CMSimple_XH Plugin

Update

Browserupdate_XH facilitates to inform your website's visitors if they are using an out-dated browser and should consider to update. The plugin uses the free services of Browser-Update.org.

Please do read this documentation before you encounter any problems!

Important Notice

Browserupdate_XH couldn't be tested so far in various environments. It is a so called beta version. Use with caution!

Requirements

Browserupdate_XH is a plugin for CMSimple_XH. It requires a UTF-8 encoded CMSimple_XH and PHP ≥ 5.2.

Installation

The installation is done as with many other CMSimple_XH plugins. See the CMSimple_XH wiki for further details.

  1. Backup the data on your server.
  2. Unzip the distribution on your computer.
  3. Upload the whole directory browserupdate/ to your server into CMSimple_XH's plugins/ directory.
  4. Set write permissions for the subdirectories css/, config/ and languages/.

Settings

The plugin's configuration is done as with many other CMSimple_XH plugins in the website's back-end. Select "Browserupdate" from "Plugins".

You can change the default settings of Browserupdate_XH under "Config". Hints for the options will be displayed when hovering over the help icon with your mouse.

Localization is done under "Language". You can translate the character strings to your own language, or customize them according to your needs.

The look of Browserupdate_XH can be customized under "Stylesheet".

Usage

After successful installation the browser check is already active.

Limitations

Visitors have to have JavaScript enabled to be warned about out-dated browsers.
